SVM has been granted exclusive commercialisation rights to Sweetie® apple in China. SVM imported the variety and managed all facets of variety development, including quarantine, test evaluation, DUS testing and nursery production. This gives us greater protection and oversite on this critical process. This variety will be planted under the Top Fruit Club Model. It was co-founded by five companies - Shennong Variety Management Ltd (SVM), Shandong Salver Agriculture Co. Ltd (Salver), Shandong Best Fruit Technology Ltd (Best Fruit), Sweet Fruit Ltd (Sweet Fruit), and Joy Wing Mau Fruit Technolgy Co. Ltd (JWM Technology). Each company works together to support the proprietary selection from variety importation and protection, professional fruit tree production, large scale orchard construction, standardised technical support for modern orchards, backed up by specialised distribution and marketing programmes.

The commercialisation plan is controlled with an agreed planting area within a set time frame. Access fee, Tree royalties and production-based royalties will be collected and remitted by SVM. We will be involved in all aspects of commercialisation and will issue exclusive licenses for propagation, growing, packing and marketing. All information is retained on the SVM database as part of the management control plan. SVM will audit licensees to ensure compliance and documentation is correct and to report regularly to Prevar, the global variety manager.
